Residents of Kagoonya Village in Bujumba Sub-county on Bunyama Island have gathered for a campaign meeting as National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer for the Kalangala District Woman Member of Parliament by-election, Idah Nabayiga, officially launched her campaign activities in the area.
During the meeting, Nabayiga thanked residents for their continued participation in elections and their support for the ruling party in previous polls.
“I thank you for the overwhelming support you have shown to the NRM during the general elections,” she told residents.
She also commended the community for entrusting leadership positions to individuals they believed in, including Kalangala District LC5 Chairperson Agnes Lunkuse and Bujumba County Member of Parliament Hon. William Lugolobi.
“We are grateful that you entrusted leadership positions to people you believed in, including your LC5 Chairperson and your Member of Parliament,” she said.
Nabayiga asked residents to extend similar support to her candidature, saying she understands the challenges affecting communities in Kalangala District and is committed to prioritising service delivery if elected.
“I understand the challenges you are facing, and I am ready to work with you to address them,” she said.
She pledged to lobby for improved government services and strengthen oversight of public programmes to ensure residents benefit from government initiatives.
As the campaign season continues, Nabayiga urged residents to actively participate in spreading her message among voters.
“I ask you to go out and speak to others about this message, so that together we can move forward,” she said.
The meeting ended with a call for continued community engagement as candidates intensify campaigns ahead of the Kalangala District Woman MP by-election.
